Child Abuse & Neglect Mandated Reporter Training
This training will help mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect to understand their roles and responsibilities under the Child Protection Law. Participants will learn the fundamental aspects of the reporting process, including all procedures and their importance. In addition, participants will be able to recognize signs and symptoms of child abuse and neglect.

Target Audience: mandated reporters (individuals required by law to report child abuse and neglect) including medical and health care providers, social workers, counselors, child care providers, clergy and faith leaders, law enforcement, school administrators, and teachers.

The Child Welfare Services (CWS) department is part of the Michigan State Court Administrative Office (SCAO). CWS provides assistance to circuit court family divisions on child welfare matters, including child protective proceedings, foster care, adoption, termination of parental rights, permanency outcomes, and data collection and analysis. CWS administers the Michigan Court Improvement Program (CIP), the Foster Care Review Board Program (FCRB), and the training program for the Governor’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect. CWS provides numerous multi-disciplinary trainings each year on a variety of child welfare issues.
